Does Chartreuse Go with Everything?

My vintage friend Jillian @jillsvintagevault likes to say that chartreuse goes with everything. Despite the fact that it is one of the rainbow’s most mercurial, strange, demanding, unusual, and shape-shifting colors, chartreuse does, in fact, play shockingly well with other tones. With an ounce of bravery, you can pair chartreuse with brights or neutrals and find combinations that sing even more beautifully than the color on its own. Some of my favorites include magenta or fuchsia, plum, emerald green, and a deep blue-purple I like to call Lanvin blue (after Jeanne Lanvin’s favorite shade). But if you want to ground chartreuse in more subdued territory, pair it with black or brown.
