Go West
There’s something about the American West… Western style, turns out, is not all chaps and yeehaw, but richly historical and evocative of the elements of sand and stone, tumbleweed and cacti colors, artisan silver jewelry, artfully weathered denim, leather, and corduroy. While I did plan a western look to wear in Joshua Tree, I swear I did not plan or bring this hat—my boyfriend was wearing it and put it on my head! I started with a basic brown dress, but the vintage tapestry bag, leather and silver concho belt, and ankle boots with western detailing are favorites that I can pair individually with other pieces to give just a touch of western flavor, in or out of the desert.
